Stats: Industrial Producer Prices Up 2.6 percent Y-o-Y in April 2026

Bratislava, 27 May (TASR) - Following four months of declines, industrial producer prices for the domestic market grew by 2.6 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in April 2026, marking the first increase this year, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday. As many as 13 of the 16 monitored branches of industry posted price increases in April. The price growth was driven in particular by the energy sector, which is strong in terms of share, and posted an increase of 2.5 percent following 11 months of decline. However, price increases were also reported in the production of means of transport (2.9 percent), in the production of coke and oil products (27.5 percent), and in the production of chemicals (17.8 percent). Conversely, the steepest drop in producer prices was posted in the manufacture of computer equipment. In the first four months of 2026, meanwhile, industrial producer prices were 0.1 percent lower than the year before, while they went up by 2.1 percent in monthly terms. In April, the prices of industrial products for export were 2 percent higher than the year before, and they also increased on a monthly basis, by 1.2 percent.
