Mihok: Encouraging Coalition Has Begun to Address Pro-growth Measures

Bratislava, 26 May (TASR) - It's encouraging that the coalition has begun to seriously address measures designed to stimulate economic growth, many of which will place only a minimal burden on the public and the business sector, stated Peter Mihok, the head of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK) during the ceremonial part of the SOPK delegates' assembly, which was also attended by Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) and Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD). Mihok added, however, that unfortunately, these measures are arriving at least two years late and during the upcoming pre-election period, which automatically precludes the adoption of measures that, while having a fundamental impact, are designed for the long term. From the perspective of the needs of the Slovak economy and its competitiveness, Mihok argues that it is necessary to address challenges that certainly extend beyond the scope of a single electoral term. "The business sector in Slovakia operates under conditions of an overgrown public administration, excessive bureaucracy, and one that is constantly growing in size. As a result, the state doesn't use the funds it collects through taxes, levies, and fees from the business sector to provide adequate and appropriate services for its running, as is the case in other countries," said the SOPK chairman. am
