Bratislava, 26 May (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) blames the governing coalition for failing to deliver concrete solutions to problems facing Slovakia, pointing out that even as an opposition party KDH has submitted several proposals to the current session of Parliament aimed at helping the people. "We have one million people living on the poverty line. Young people do not know whether they will have housing. And I could mention other problems, for example seniors struggling with expensive medicines that sometimes cost them hundreds of euros per month. While the coalition bickers over their posts, busy with their disagreements, people in Slovakia are suffering," KDH leader Milan Majersky declared at a press conference on Tuesday. Majersky presented several proposals that KDH has submitted to Parliament to address the current situation. One of the proposals aims to prevent illegal fees in healthcare. The Christian Democrats also want to strengthen the protection of minors on social media. "Young people and children are easy prey for predators operating on social media today," Majersky noted. KDH has also submitted a proposal to regulate advertising for gambling. Majersky pointed out that many gambling advertisements are broadcast even during matches at the current Ice Hockey World Championship and are promoted by well-known personalities. "We need to build heroism, courage and fair play in young people, not a gambling habit," he said. He also declared that the proposals do not necessarily have to be submitted by KDH and could also be put forward by one of the coalition parties. "We want to help people in Slovakia and we do not care who submits it, we will vote in favour of such a law," he added. mf
