Elections2026: Anna Belousovova to Run for Zilina Region Governor Post

Zilina, 25 May (TASR) - Cadca (Zilina region) Vice-mayor and Zilina regional councillor Anna Belousovova will run for the post of Zilina region governor in the autumn regional elections, confirming her decision during the regional council session on Monday. The far-right Republic party was the first to offer support for her candidacy. "I must admit that I considered it for a very long time, as other political parties were - and still are - in the frame offering me their support. Republic was clearly the first to declare that it stood behind me and my candidacy, and we're still waiting to hear from the others," Belousovova told TASR. Republic leader Milan Uhrik highlighted Belousovova's rich experience in municipal politics. "I am positive that with the experience, expertise and patriotism that have accompanied her entire long political career, Belousovova will be a great regional governor for the people of Zilina region," said Uhrik. ko/df
