Bratislava, 24 May (TASR) - More than half of Slovaks are unsure whether they can safely distinguish content created by artificial intelligence (AI) from reality, with the highest level of uncertainty found among those over 60 years of age, according to a survey conducted by Go4insight agency, TASR reported earlier this week.
Carried out in January and February on a sample of 1,000 respondents aged 15 to 79, the survey revealed that questionable AI content is most frequently encountered by younger people who demonstrably spend more time online and on social media.
According to the data, 62 percent of Slovaks encounter online content of questionable authenticity at least once a week, with nearly two-thirds of them seeing it every day. The data also show that 46 percent of the respondents are confident in their ability to tell AI-generated content from real content, but only 8 percent say that they can recognise it with absolute certainty.
Doubts about the authenticity of content were reported most frequently by young people of up to 24 years of age; however, this group also declared a higher degree of certainty in terms of identifying AI content. The same applied to groups with higher incomes or education, as well as people from Bratislava, with men being slightly more confident about recognising AI content than women.
