Stats: Average EU-harmonised Inflation Up to 4.1 percent Y-o-Y in April

Bratislava, 20 May (TASR) - Year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation measured by the EU's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) amounted to 4.1 percent in April 2026, while monthly inflation stood at 0.5 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday, adding that both figures were the second-highest this year.
The average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in April 2026 amounted to 4.2 percent.
Concerning monthly developments, prices rose in 10 of the 13 monitored segments, with the growth ranging from 0.1 percent in clothing and footwear and in educational services up to 4.6 percent in transport. A monthly price drop was posted in the segment of food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.2 percent).
In a y-o-y comparison, prices grew in all 13 segments, with the increases ranging from 0.6 percent in clothing and footwear up to 9.3 percent in housing including energy.
