Pellegrini Meets Vice-chair of Chinese Parliament Li Hongzhong

Bratislava, 19 May (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini received vice-chair of the Chinese Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Hongzhong, who is currently paying a visit to Slovakia, at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, the President's Office's communications department has informed TASR, adding that issues concerning trade and economic cooperation with China were high on the agenda of their talks. According to Pellegrini, Slovakia is interested in constructive dialogue and in developing relations also in the field of culture, as confirmed by the planned opening of a Slovak Institute in Beijing. The current global security situation and the threats faced by the international community were discussed during the meeting as well. Pellegrini stressed Slovakia's position and its firm anchoring in the European Union and NATO. ko/df
