Bratislava, 15 May (TASR) - Nurses and midwives are the most important group in hospitals, President Peter Pellegrini stated in his speech during the presentation of the White Heart awards organised by the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives. Pellegrini highlighted that nurses are able to respond to changes in their fields. "There are also those among you who want and are willing to pass on their knowledge, abilities and expertise gained through many years of practice to the next generation and who also take part in the education and training of those new people who will one day replace you. This is also an immensely noble task, when you pass your skills on to the younger generation and help ensure that more well-prepared people enter the Slovak healthcare system,” said the head of state. Pellegrini also pointed out that nurses and midwives stand by people in every situation. "It is you on whom the patient relies the most during hospitalisation," he added. mf
