Bratislava, 13 May (TASR) - The Slovak National Party (SNS) plans to criticise the Economy Ministry's pro-growth measures at the next Coalition Council meeting, SNS spokesperson Zuzana Skopcova has informed TASR.
SNS objects to the proposal to scrap recreation and sport vouchers and also has reservations about several other proposals. According to SNS, it is likewise unacceptable for pro-growth measures to be unsystematic and chaotic.
"The very proposal to scrap and restrict recreation and sport vouchers only reinforces SNS's belief that the people who prepared the materials for the pro-growth measures don't understand the issue in question," said Skopcova. Tourism and Sport Minister Rudolf Huliak (Independent) also spoke out against limiting recreation and sport vouchers before Wednesday's government session.
SNS believes that the draft pro-growth measures are just another wasted opportunity regarding the reform that the Slovak economy urgently needs. According to the party, the only way to go is to cut taxes, motivate the business sector and strengthen people's social security, which would be reflected in higher consumer spending.
In connection with criticism of the pro-growth measures, the Economy Ministry said on Tuesday (12 May) that it won't comment on any partial processes until the governing coalition makes a political decision in this regard. Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) said last week that the Coalition Council should deal with the measures at its session on Thursday (14 May). The first decision could then be made at a subsequent government session.
