Bratislava, 11 May (TASR) - Revenues in industry, the key sector of the economy, fell for the third consecutive month in March 2026 - by 1.3 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in fixed prices when adjusted for inflation, the Statistics Office reported on Monday, adding that seven of the 16 monitored industrial branches posted y-o-y decreases in revenues. The most significant impact came from drops in the production of means of transport (5.7 percent), the production of coke and oil products (45.6 percent) and the production of metals (5.2 percent). An even bigger decline was prevented by y-o-y increases in revenues in electricity and gas supplies, food production and the manufacture of machinery and equipment. The remaining monitored sectors posted y-o-y growth in revenues in March. Revenues in the information and communications sector were up by 15 percent, the second-fastest rate of growth seen in the past 15 months. The construction sector also saw double-digit growth of 17.6 percent. Revenues in the remaining two sectors rose by up to 7 percent, with selected market services coming in at 6.5 percent and transport and warehousing at 6.7 percent. In monthly terms, revenues (seasonally adjusted) grew in all of the five sectors, most notably in the construction sector (11.8 percent) and in transport and warehousing (3.3 percent). The remaining three sectors saw revenues rising by up to 3 percent: in selected market services by 2.3 percent, in industry by 1 percent and in the information and communications sector by just 0.5 percent. jrg/df
