6. mája 2026 15:12
Bratislava, 6 May (TASR) - Slovak soldiers will help with tackling the fire in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and dealing with its aftermath, with the Slovak government approving their deployment for the purpose of humanitarian aid at its session on Wednesday. Up to 30 Slovak soldiers, equipped with two UH-60 helicopters fitted with integrated firefighting systems and two wheeled vehicles, should be deployed to the north of the Ustecky region. The proposal was submitted to the cabinet session by Vice-premier and Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) based on the Czech Republic's request for international assistance in connection with rescue operations. The fire in the Czech national park broke out over the past weekend and spread into difficult-to-access terrain. Slovak firefighters also helped tackle the blaze. ko/mcs
