Pezinok, 4 May (TASR) - Tomas Szabo, who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence for murdering investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kusnirova in 2018, refused to testify during Monday's main hearing held at the Specialised Criminal Court (STS) in Pezinok (Bratislava region) in the case of those accused of ordering the journalist's murder and planning the murders of prosecutors.

Bratislava, 4 May (TASR) - The junior governing Slovak National Party (SNS) will demand assurances from Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) that he'll never vote in favour of Ukraine's EU accession during the remainder of his term in office until the next election, SNS leader Andrej Danko has posted on social media, adding that the party is expressing its absolute disagreement with the Slovak premier's talks with the president of Ukraine.

Bratislava, 4 May (TASR) - Slovakia sold government bonds with a total nominal value of €5.004 billion in the first four months of this year, including €2.587 billion via regular monthly auctions, €2 billion via syndicated sales, and €417 million via bonds intended for ordinary people, the Debt and Liquidity Management Agency (ARDAL) announced in its latest monthly report for April 2026.

Bratislava/Yerevan, 4 May (TASR) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's presence at the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Yerevan, Armenia suggests significant convergence between Canada, the European Union (EU) and Europe as a whole, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) told reporters on Monday, noting that Canada is being discussed as a replacement for the United States, which, he claims, is "washing its hands" of Europe.

Bratislava, 4 May (TASR) - The Trade Union Confederation (KOZ) has opposed the current wording of the bill on work via digital labour platforms, KOZ President Monika Uhlerova told a press conference following Monday's meeting of the Economic and Social Council, adding that KOZ also disagreed with a guideline stating that 8 May and 15 September of this year are to be treated as regular working days.
