Monitor: Gaspar: 13th Pension May be Made More Targeted

3. mája 2026 17:59
(JOJ 24,'Politika 24', 3 May) The 13th pension could become more targeted or be graded according to dependency, and the option remains under consideration, Parliamentary vice-chair Tibor Gaspar (Smer-SD) said on JOJ 24's discussion programme 'Politika 24' (Politics 24) on Sunday "The Council for Budgetary Responsibility has also said that the biggest problem lies in spending in this social area," Gaspar stated. The House vice-chair does not believe the government will pursue abolishing the 13th pension or some other social benefits. He pointed out that even the Pensioners' Union conceded there are pensions at the threshold where it is questionable whether a pensioner really needs the 13th pension. "We will see what the figures and facts are, because it may ultimately turn out that 70 or 80 percent of pensioners clearly need the 13th pension," he added. mf
