Bratislava, 2 May (TASR) - It took less than four months for M.R. Stefanik Airport in Bratislava (BTS) to handle one million passengers this year, TASR has learnt from spokesperson for Bratislava Airport Veronika Demovicova. The one-millionth passenger was processed on Tuesday (28 April) afternoon; it was a traveller from Olomouc in the Czech Republic who departed with a group of friends for a sightseeing trip in Naples with Wizz Air. "Last year, we welcomed our millionth passenger at the airport during the summer holidays on 10 July; the year before that, it was 26 July. The fact that we've already checked in our first million passengers in April suggests that this year will truly be a historic record-breaker for our airport in terms of passenger numbers," said Bratislava Airport director Dusan Novota, adding that the capital's airport expects approximately 4 million passengers to be handled by arrivals and departures this year. In the first quarter of 2026, a record total of 679,041 passengers passed through the airport. am/df/mf
