PG Zilinka Views Cintula's Conviction as Crucial from Various Viewpoints

Bratislava, 29 April (TASR) - Prosecutor-General (PG) Maros Zilinka views the final conviction of Juraj Cintula for carrying out a terrorist attack that consisted of an assassination attempt on Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) as crucial both from a legal viewpoint and in terms of justice and society as a whole. "I appreciate the professional, restrained and convincing approach of the prosecutor of the PG's Office in exercising her powers as a prosecutor in such a socially sensitive and legally demanding criminal case," stated Zilinka. The Supreme Court earlier on Wednesday confirmed a 21-year prison sentence for shooter Cintula for his assassination attempt on the premier, finding him guilty of committing a terrorist attack. The ruling by the court of appeal, which slightly corrected the legal classification imposed by the first-instance court, is final. ko/df
