Bratislava, 24 April (TASR) - The exercise that was held at the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces on Thursday (23 April) confirmed the need for legislative changes, the military posted on social media on Friday, adding that in addition to soldiers, several MPs also participated.
"The participants, who included members of the House defence and security committee and the committee supervising military intelligence, had the opportunity to test the crisis decision-making process at the strategic-political level using a simulated scenario. The result of the analysis is a better mutual understanding of the limits of current legislation, particularly in the changed security environment and in response to modern military technologies," stated the army, adding that the discussion established a framework for further action aimed at incorporating the army's requirements into legislation and aligning it with current national and international plans.
Chief-of-General-Staff Daniel Zmeko emphasised that it's important to have a legislative framework that allows the state to act quickly and effectively. "I'm convinced that the exercise has significantly contributed to the Slovak Republic's ability to respond to modern security threats before they escalate into a crisis," stressed Zmeko.
