Sakova: Government Plans 90 Pro-growth Measures across Five Sectors

Bratislava, 24 April (TASR) - Planned measures to support Slovakia's economic growth cover five areas and total around 90, said Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) at the annual assembly of the National Union of Employers in Bratislava on Friday. According to Sakova, the measures address energy and energy prices, the tax and levy burden, investment, the labour market and improving the business environment. "All the measures have been summarised into five main areas. Pro-growth steps concern energy and energy prices, the second package concerns the tax and levy burden. Further pro-growth measures relate to investment, the investment space and various steps that the business sector and associations would prefer and welcome," she said. "There are also two more packages: one concerns the labour market, and the final one concerns the business environment. There are about 90 measures, and we're gradually meeting with individual ministries and reassessing them," she added. The government will seek to bring at least some of the measures with the smallest impact on the state budget into the legislative framework soon. "If these measures can be implemented - for example, through a government regulation - it would be much faster," she noted. "However, for measures that have a partial or significant impact on the state budget, given the current state of public finances, the discussion will be more professional, deeper and sometimes very demanding," added Sakova. mf/df
