Bratislava, 23 April (TASR) - Junior coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) leader and House vice-chair Andrej Danko has expressed his disappointment that Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) didn't block the €90-billion loan for Ukraine, TASR reported on Thursday.
Danko also called on Fico to oppose any efforts leading to the loss of the right of veto in the European Union (EU). SNS plans to prepare a formal resolution concerning this.
"As Robert Fico has failed to block the loan, I trust that he'll at least block the loss of the right of veto. Because if Western states will be deciding about us based on a majority, we'll see unstoppable things happening in relation to Slovaks," stated Danko, responding to German foreign affairs minister Johann Wadephul's calls to abolish the unanimity principle in the EU when it comes to foreign and security policy.
Danko also commented on the Agricultural Payment Agency (PPA), which opposition parties claim is facing the risk of losing its accreditation as a result of a year-end audit by the European Commission. According to Danko, there's a need to wait for the final results. "All issues at PPA can be explained," he said.
