Bratislava, 19 April (TASR) - Current measurements of the landslide on the planned Ruzomberok (Zilina region) motorway bypass show no movement, head of the National Highway Company (NDS) Filip Machacek told a press conference on Sunday, adding that he firmly believes that the landslide has been successfully stabilised in this case.
"Work is currently underway on the supports - the left and right supports of Bridge No. 210 - where we currently have approved project documentation and a solution to the problem that essentially caused the landslide and the subsequent remediation work that was carried out there," stated Machacek, adding that all related work should begin in full next week.
The motorway operators plan to open the planned stretch of the D1 motorway between Hubova and Ivachnova in the autumn or by the end of this year.
The D1 Hubova-Ivachnova section is nearly 15 kilometres long. It includes 19 bridges, three intersections and the 3.6-kilometre-long Cebrat tunnel. The motorway section will form a bypass of the town of Ruzomberok and, once completed, will connect to the four-lane motorway towards Kosice.
The motorway near Ruzomberok is expected to save motorists 16 minutes compared with travelling on a first-class road. The construction directly links to the planned D1 Turany-Hubova section towards Martin (Zilina region).
