Bratislava, 17 April (TASR) - The value of new orders in Slovak industry declined by 7.6 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) to €5.56 billion in February 2026, which means the decline thus continued for the fifth consecutive month, the Statistics Office reported on Friday.
After seasonal adjustment, new industrial orders in February 2026 fell by 2.9 percent compared with January 2026.
Eight of the 12 monitored industrial sectors posted y-o-y decreases in volumes of orders in the second month of 2026. The overall development was most significantly affected by y-o-y drops in orders in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (by 12.8 percent), in the production and processing of metals (by 7.4 percent), and in the production of metal structures excluding machinery and equipment (by 6.1 percent).
Conversely, orders saw a y-o-y increase in the manufacture of machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified (by 9.7 percent), in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (by 11.3 percent) and in the manufacture of other transport equipment (31 percent).
