Bratislava, 16 April (TASR) - New MP Gabriel Pala took the MP's oath during the parliamentary session on Thursday.
Pala will serve in the opposition KDH (Christian Democrats) faction, replacing Jozef Hajko in the post.
KDH leader Milan Majersky introduced the new MP at a press conference on Thursday as an expert in the field of education. He pointed out that he is a university professor and a practitioner. He also highlighted his voluntary work.
Pala stated that he was joining parliament with respect, but also a determination to cooperate and bring solutions in the field of education together with Christian Democrats. He said he is not coming only to criticise, but is ready to submit meaningful and constructive proposals. "Slovak education needs no more new ill-considered projects, it needs calm, expertise, meaningfulness and certainty for parents, teachers and headteachers," he said at the press conference.
Hajko resigned from his parliamentary seat as of 15 April, explaining that he'd been unable to implement his vision and that the Christian Democrats are taking a different path. He also stated that he'll remain a member of the party.
