Stats: Average EU-harmonised Inflation Down to 3.7 percent Y-o-Y in March

Bratislava, 16 April (TASR) - Year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation measured by the EU's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) amounted to 3.7 percent in March 2026, the lowest figure seen in the past 15 months, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday.
Two-way price movements across individual sectors throughout the structure of the consumer basket resulted in a zero monthly harmonised inflation in March.
In a y-o-y comparison, prices grew in all the 13 segments, with the increases ranging from 0.9 percent in the information and communications sector up to 9.5 percent in housing including energies.
Concerning monthly developments, prices rose in nine of the 13 monitored segments, with the growth ranging from 0.1 percent in personal-care goods and services to 1.7 percent in transport. Price drops were posted in the segment of recreation including culture (-0.5 percent) and food and soft beverages (-1.5 percent).
The average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period ending in March 2026 amounted to 4.2 percent.
