SaS Calls for Increase in Funding for 'Green for Households' Project

Bratislava, 15 April (TASR) - The opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party has criticised the temporary suspension of the 'Green for Households' project, calling on Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) to begin negotiations on increasing funding for the project, MP Karol Galek (SaS) told a press conference on Wednesday. "The 'Green for Households' programme has been running for ten years and has supported thousands of projects. Today, however, vouchers aren't being reimbursed, people are waiting, and companies are left without money," he stated, emphasising that this is a nearly 100-percent utilised project. Galek also criticised the energy aid programme, describing it as mismanaged. "Yesterday we learnt that there will be no second wave of energy aid for now because the government hasn't approved it. Instead of introducing targeted assistance, it's only bringing more changes to the changed changes," he commented. The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) announced in early April that the 'Green for Households' project will continue in the autumn. When the revision of the Slovakia programme is approved, additional funds are expected to be added to the unused €7.4 million from previous vouchers. In total, more than €28 million will be available to support the use of renewable energy sources in households. SIEA also announced that it will seek additional funding opportunities. The issuing of new vouchers has been suspended since mid-2025, when all available funds were reserved. The project provides European assistance from the Slovakia Programme via vouchers that can cover up to 50 percent of eligible expenditures when purchasing and installing heat pumps, photovoltaic panels, solar collectors, biomass boilers and wind turbines. am/df
