Stats: Salaries Up Y-o-Y in All Sectors but Communications in February 2026

Bratislava, 14 April (TASR) - Average nominal monthly salaries posted year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in nine of the ten sectors monitored in February 2026, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday, adding that the only exception was the information and communications sector, with salaries going down by 7 percent.
The salary growth in the remaining sectors ranged from 4 percent in the selected market services up to 6.9 percent in the construction sector.
Real salary (adjusted for inflation) in the information and communications sectors decreased by 10.3 percent in February. The sector posted a double-digit drop for the first time since December 2022. In the remaining nine sectors, real salary growth of up to 2 percent was reported in the selected market services, as well as in accommodation, transport and warehousing, the retail sector and in the sale and repair of motor vehicles. In industry, the key sector with the biggest number of employees, real salary rose by 1.5 percent y-o-y. Real salaries increased by more than 2 percent in wholesale, as well as in pubs and restaurants, and the most notably in the construction sector.
The lowest nominal monthly salaries in February were posted in accommodation services, with employees earning €854 on average. The second lowest salaries were earned by employees engaged in the construction sector. At the opposite end of the scale were employees engaged in the information and communications sector, monthly earning €2,436 on average, followed by those employed in wholesale (€1,691) and in industry (€1,662).
