Bratislava, 13 April (TASR) - Elections in Slovakia have always been beyond question and intended for the citizens of the Slovak Republic, who choose their representation in Parliament and the government through them, House Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) stated on social media on Monday. "There's still a year and a half to go until the [next] elections, and yet Progressive Slovakia (PS) members are already scaremongering among people by saying that the election will be rigged or unfair, while they're also convening protests dubbed 'They won't take our elections from us'. I want to tell all PS members that no one can take the elections away from you because those elections aren't for you; they are for the citizens of the Slovak Republic, who'll make their own choice themselves," stated Rasi. He stated that PS has no right to claim that an election in Slovakia is in peril, adding that even during difficult times, Slovak elections have always been beyond question. The opposition Progressive Slovakia party has criticised proposed changes to the rules for voting from abroad in parliamentary elections, calling the coalition's proposal to abolish postal voting purpose-built and aimed at damaging the opposition. PS fears that if the amendment is passed, the coalition will prepare further changes to the parliamentary election rules. For this reason, PS has called a protest to be held in front of the parliamentary building on Tuesday, 14 April. jrg/df
