Bratislava, 11 April (TASR) - Slovakia has officially launched preparations for the World Expo 2027 in Belgrade by announcing an architectural contest for designing its national pavilion. The project is being held under the umbrella of national tourism promotion organisation Slovakia Travel, which reported on Tuesday that the contest has been verified by the Slovak Chamber of Architects (SKA). Those interested in submitting proposals have until 14 May to do so via the e-public procurement information system. The announcement of the contest was preceded by a strategic meeting with SKA representatives aimed a finalising the contest terms in line with SKA's rules. "Thanks to the chamber's professional approach, the contest is being carried out in line with the highest professional standards and opens the door to a wide range of architectural teams - from established studios to young talents," said Lukas Parizek, Commissioner General of Expo 2027 Belgrade. "Expo 2027 is a unique opportunity for Slovakia to show the world our creativity, innovation and ability to produce bold solutions. The architectural contest is the first step towards creating a pavilion that will not only be visually attractive, but also a strong story about Slovakia as a country of opportunities," said Slovakia Travel general director Matej Fekete. The contest is to design a comprehensive architectural solution for the national pavilion based on the 'Living Playground' concept. The pavilion will be located in in Hall 6 of the Expo Belgrade 2027 site, covering an area of 648 square metres and with two above-ground floors. The design will include a dominant visual installation, an interactive public zone using modern technologies, a representative business zone, as well as a gastronomic section in the form of a Slovak restaurant and a cafe with souvenirs. "Emphasis will be put on experience, interactivity and a strong visual identity that will leave a lasting impression," added Parizek. The best three designs will receive a total of €29,000 in financial rewards. The winner will receive €12,000, second place €10,000, and third place €7,000. "Our ambition is to present Slovakia as a modern and self-confident country that can address the world not only with content but also with form. The pavilion will be a key element of this presentation - a place where innovation, design and a unique experience for visitors from all over the world will come together," added Fekete. ko/df
