'Slovakia': President's Call to Commit to Building Hospitals Late

dnes 20:16
Bratislava, 10 April (TASR) - The opposition 'Slovakia' party considers President Peter Pellegrini's call for political parties to commit to building hospitals even after the 2027 parliamentary elections to be belated and unconvincing, according to a statement provided to TASR by party's spokesperson Matus Bystriansky on Friday. "It's truly too late for such empty gestures. The president should have spoken up back when his party colleagues from Voice were planning the biggest 'ambulance robbery' in Slovakia's history, worth €2 billion. Why weren't patients the president's top priority back then?" asked MP Gabor Grendel ('Slovakia'-'For the People' caucus). The party emphasised that, in its view, health care requires systemic solutions, transparency, and accountability - not empty political appeals that fail to reflect on past decisions. In the coming days, President Peter Pellegrini will invite both coalition and opposition parties to sign a written commitment to continue with the construction of strategic hospitals after the 2027 parliamentary elections, regardless of the future government line-up, Pellegrini stated on social media on Friday. am
