Martin, 9 April (TASR) - The contractor for the new St. Martin's University Hospital building in Martin (Zilina region) has managed to make significant progress thanks to favourable weather conditions and more daylight hours after the shift to summer time, Martin University Hospital (UNM) announced on social media on Thursday, adding that half the main building is already roofed over.
According to UNM, the building facade is progressing on exterior parts of the building, as well as in the atrium sections.
"The ceiling above the fourth floor has been completed, and the fifth floor will be fully enclosed within two weeks," stated UNM.
The roof of the underground garage is nearly finished, while work on internal wiring and the construction of lift shafts is still in progress. "In the depot area, massive steel beams weighing up to 45 tonnes with a span of up to 28 metres have been installed to create ample room for supply vehicles to manoeuvre," added UNM.
The contract for constructing the new Martin hospital with its 660 beds was signed in June 2024. The hospital's shell structure is being financed from the recovery plan and must be completed by 30 June 2026. The construction work is being carried out by a consortium of four contractors led by a company called Adifex.
