Bratislava, 7 April (TASR) - Defendant Daniel B. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons - ed.note], who was convicted of multiple extremist crimes by the Specialised Criminal Court (STS) in Pezinok (Bratislava region) in March, should be released from custody on Tuesday. SME daily was the first to break the news, adding that the ruling was issued by the Supreme Court at a non-public session on Tuesday. STS found Daniel B. guilty of all charges related to several extremist criminal offences on 10 March. It imposed a suspended prison sentence of three years with a probation period of four years. Prosecutor Michal Stanislav and Daniel B. both appealed against all parts of the ruling. At the same time, STS decided to release the defendant from custody. However, the prosecutor filed a complaint against the decision and Daniel B. thus had to remain in custody until the Supreme Court decided on the matter. ko/df
