Poprad, 4 April (TASR) - Poprad-Tatry Airport has announced a record-breaking summer season, offering passengers the highest number of destinations in its history, TASR learnt from Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Operating Officer of the airport Patrik Frantiska earlier this week.
Frantiska said that as part of the transition to the summer flight schedule, travel agencies have significantly boosted charter flights, which are expected to increase by 30 percent year-on-year.
In addition to traditional destinations such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Tunisia and Egypt, new options including Cyprus and Greece are being added. The new charter flights will be operated by Cyprus Airways, making its debut at Poprad-Tatry airport.
"The longest summer season in Europe and up to 330 sunny days a year put Cyprus among the top five fastest-growing destinations for Slovaks," said Frantiska, adding that Greece has long been one of the top three holiday destinations as well.
The airport is encouraging interest in these new destinations by offering free parking directly in front of the departure terminal.
