Rasi: Ties with Georgia Good, Without Unresolved Issues (2)

Bratislava, 2 April (TASR) - Relations between Slovakia and Georgia are very good and without unresolved issues, stated House Chair Richard Rasi on social media after meeting Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili at Bratislava Castle on Thursday. "Our relations are very good long term and without unresolved issues. That's why it's important to maintain an open dialogue, especially at a time when Georgia's relations with the European Union are more complicated," posted Rasi, adding that a major driver for deepening these ties is the growing trade between the two countries, as well as the development of tourism, supported by the new direct flight connection between Bratislava and the Georgian city of Kutaisi. The House chair said that the talks covered cooperation at the parliamentary level, support for Georgia's European prospects and specific opportunities to strengthen economic ties. The Parliament Office's media and public relations department stated that both sides agreed on the need to continue an open dialogue and to develop cooperation not only at the political level, but also at the economic and social levels. Earlier in the day, during his official visit to Slovakia, Kavelashvili also met Slovak President Peter Pellegrini at the Presidential Palace and Economy Minister Denisa Sakova at the Government Office.
