Bratislava, 2 April (TASR) - Differences in diesel prices for domestic and foreign vehicles have deepened this week, with foreign drivers currently paying 34 cents more per litre, the Financial Policy Institute (IFP) reported on social media on Wednesday (1 April), citing sales data from one of the largest petrol station operators. When a fixed diesel price for vehicles registered abroad was first introduced last week, the price gap between domestic and foreign vehicles stood at some 23 cents per litre, according to IFP. "With the new fixed price set for diesel, the rates for foreign vehicles increased by 10 percent compared to the previous week, while domestic vehicles saw a rise of only 5 percent," explained IFP, noting that the discount for Slovak vehicles may vary depending on individual petrol station operators. On 18 March, the Slovak government adopted measures by decree to limit diesel fuel consumption during the oil emergency. A special diesel price, set as the average of prices in Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland, applies at petrol stations to all vehicles registered outside Slovakia. jrg
