Bratislava, 31 March (TASR) - The Slovak and Czech governments will hold a joint session at Nova Horka Castle in the town of Studenka in the Moravian-Silesian Region on Tuesday with support for competitiveness, transport infrastructure and energy security high on the agenda.
"Czech Premier Andrej Babis and Slovak Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) will sign a memorandum on enhanced cooperation between the Czech and Slovak Governments," the Czech cabinet posted on its website.
The Slovak and Czech governments held their first joint session as an expression of the above-standard relations between the two countries in Uherske Hradiste in 2012.
The last inter-governmental consultations, which were scheduled for the turn of April and May 2024, eventually didn't take place. The then Czech government suspended them on the grounds that it disagreed with some steps taken by the Slovak government in the area of foreign policy. This concerned Slovakia's stance on the war in Ukraine. Prior to that, the two governments met in April 2023 in Trencin. Eight such joint sessions have been held so far.
