Bratislava, 30 March (TASR) - The police have charged one individual with the crime of damaging the financial interests of the European Union in conjunction with subsidy fraud, Police Corps Presidium spokesperson Roman Hajek told TASR on Monday, adding that the charge concerns a project called 'Modernisation of Dairy Production'.
As part of the investigation, the police carried out an extensive operation codenamed 'Technologist' in Presov region in September 2025. According to Hajek, the damage is estimated at almost €976,000.
"Our findings so far indicate that money intended for implementing the project may have been used unlawfully," said Hajek. Of the total damage, some €732,000 came from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, while almost €244,000 was from the state budget.
Procedural supervision in this case is being carried out by the European Public Prosecutor's Office. "The investigation is ongoing, and it's impossible to provide any more details for now," added Hajek.
