Police: Criminal Complaint against Fico, Filed by Groehling, Handled by UBOK

Bratislava, 27 March 27 (TASR) - The Office for Combating Organised Crime (UBOK) of the Police Corps Presidium is investigating a criminal complaint filed against Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) by opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party leader and MP Branislav Groehling for treason and other criminal offences, TASR was told by the police's communications department on Friday. "We're reviewing the content of the complaint at this stage and assessing whether the facts presented meet the elements of a criminal offence. Given the ongoing proceedings, it isn't currently possible to provide further details," stated the police. Groehling on Thursday (26 March) posted on social media that Premier Fico is being investigated by the police for treason and other criminal offences. The SaS leader added that he filed the criminal complaint against Fico a month ago and that in addition to his SaS colleagues, more than 13,000 people joined the complaint. SaS representatives filed several criminal complaints with the Prosecutor-General's Office in late February. According to them, Fico may have committed multiple offences through his statements and actions aimed at halting supplies of so-called emergency electricity to Ukraine. The complaints, said Groehling, concern suspicions of misusing public office, treason, inhumanity, breaches of obligations in the administration of entrusted property, and a terrorist attack. am
