Police Detain Two in Anti-migration Operation Codenamed 'Slave'

Bratislava, 26 March (TASR) – The police have been carrying out an operation in the town of Spisska Nova Ves (Kosice region) since the early morning hours under the code name 'Slave', detaining two suspects, Police Corps Presidium spokesperson Roman Hajek told TASR on Thursday. "At 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, two suspected individuals were apprehended in the town of Spisska Nova Ves, both of them are citizens of the Slovak Republic," specified Hajek, adding that a house raid was also conducted as part of procedural steps. He noted the operation was carried out by the National Unit for Combating Illegal Migration of the Border and Foreign Police Office in cooperation with the Mobile Intervention Unit of the Border and Foreign Police Directorate in Sobrance. "Further necessary procedural steps are currently under way in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. Given the ongoing investigation, it isn't possible to provide more detailed information at this time," the spokesperson added. mf/df
