Bratislava, 22 March (TASR) - The state must be a strong and predictable partner for local authorities, as municipalities are the first point of contact with citizens, House Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) stated on social media with respect to his meeting with representatives of municipalities from the Malacky district (Bratislava region) earlier this week. "One of the main issues around which the meeting revolved was the new road law. We are focusing on provisions increasing safety on roads, pavements and in pedestrian zones. We want children and seniors to feel truly protected in public spaces. We also discussed making social services more efficient and the need for stability in planning large investments. In this context, we discussed extending the electoral term of local authorities to five years, which would align their functioning with other regional authorities," the parliamentary chair said. Rasi added that he believes that through open dialogue with those who are in daily contact with the people, politicians can improve Slovakia. He described inputs from the Zahorie region as a valuable contribution to the legislative process. mf
