Bratislava, 17 March (TASR) - Around 70 passengers were on a regional bus that collided with a car on Tuesday morning on the Bratislava section of the D2 motorway, with no injuries reported.
According to initial information from the passenger carrier Arriva, which owns the bus, the driver of the car lost control of his vehicle and the bus driver travelling behind was unable to avoid the collision. Arriva spokesperson Peter Stach detailed that the accident occurred at approximately 6.55 a.m.
"The police documented the accident and also carried out breathalyser tests on both drivers for the presence of alcohol, with negative results. As the bus was too damaged to continue its journey, the carrier dispatched a replacement vehicle," he said.
The spokesperson added that the accident caused traffic delays on the D2 and led to roughly one-hour delays for most regional transport services from the Zahorie area.
Bratislava regional fire brigade spokesperson Stefan Koci told TASR that firefighters extracted the driver from the car after arriving at the scene and handed him over to paramedics.
Police urged other drivers to use alternative routes when passing through the affected section.
