Bratislava, 11 March (TASR) - The Transport Ministry will provide the railway infrastructure operator ZSR with over €20 million in 2026 for the development and modernisation of railway infrastructure and servicing facilities, according to a partial contract concluded between the ministry and ZSR.
The partial contract falls under the framework agreement for the operation, development, and modernisation of railway infrastructure covering the period 2023-2032, as published in the Central Register of Contracts. The funds are earmarked to cover expenses related to projects co-financed by EU funds.
Under a separate partial contract for the operation of railway infrastructure and servicing facilities for 2026, which was concluded last December under the same framework agreement, ZSR is set to receive subsidies totalling €476.5 million. Of this amount, more than €454 million is allocated for eligible costs associated with the operation of railway infrastructure and servicing facilities. The remainder will serve as compensation for the financial impacts of reduced charges for access to railway infrastructure for rail freight carriers.
