Banska Bystrica, 10 March (TASR) - The Voice-SD party wants to introduce a proposal within the current electoral term that would exempt working mothers from paying income tax, with the measure initially expected to apply to women with four or more children and later extended to others, party chair and Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok announced after a meeting with representatives of the Union of Women of Slovakia in Banska Bystrica on Tuesday. Sutaj Estok added that respect for women must not be only symbolic. "We are convinced that respect for women must also be visible in tangible state measures," Sutaj Estok declared, pointing out that this was why the party had previously pushed through several measures aimed at improving the position of women in Slovakia. He said the gradual income tax exemption for working mothers could first apply to working women with four or more children. Later, the party would like to extend the measure to women with fewer children. "I think this is a way for the state to clearly show that it values the work of women, mothers, and wants to support it with real measures," Sutaj Estok added, noting that the proposal is also aimed at supporting demographics. mf
