Bratislava, 9 March (TASR) - Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) will travel to Paris on Tuesday (10 March) to attend the Nuclear Energy Summit, and he's also slated to meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the Government Office's press department told TASR on Monday. The second Nuclear Energy Summit continues a political initiative aimed at strengthening the global role of nuclear energy. This year's event is being held under the slogan 'safe and affordable nuclear energy for all'. The summit represents an important political and strategic platform for presenting national experience, ambitions and projects in the field of safe nuclear energy. The aim of the event is to highlight the positive aspects of nuclear energy development and to define the conditions under which nuclear power can serve as an effective tool for decarbonisation, combating climate change and strengthening energy sovereignty. On the sidelines of the summit, representatives of VUJE and Framatome will sign a memorandum of understanding on continued cooperation, with the ceremony to be attended by Prime Minister Fico and French Minister for the Economy, Finance, Industry and Digital Sovereignty Roland Lescure as well. mf/df
