Bratislava, 8 March (TASR) - Represented by the DARIAH-SK consortium, Slovakia officially became a member of DARIAH ERIC European research infrastructure in February 2026, TASR has been told by Stanislava Luptakova from the communications department of the Centre for Scientific and Technical Information. This is a significant milestone in the field of digital humanities. The integration process and activities of the consortium are being coordinated by the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, which also cooperates with the Centre for Scientific and Technical Information (CVTI). "Joining the European infrastructure will bring systematic support for cutting-edge research and service development. It's a key step for Slovak humanities to master the digital transformation and become an equal partner in the European research area," said national DARIAH-SK coordinator Andrej Gogora. According to CVTI, connections to cutting-edge European infrastructure and access to international working groups will open up new opportunities for cooperation for Slovak scientists. Another benefit is that this integration will increase the visibility of national projects in Europe, which will significantly strengthen their use and overall social impact. "Digital technologies are fundamentally changing the way in which we research, preserve and make available our cultural and historical heritage. CVTI sees this integration as an investment in the future of knowledge, data accessibility and international cooperation," said CVTI director Robert Galik. am/df
