Election26: Majersky Will Run Again for Post of Presov Region Governor

Ruzomberok, 7 March (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) will field three candidates for regional governors in the autumn regional election, KDH Council approved at its meeting on Saturday, which preceded the national congress held in the town of Ruzomberok (Zilina region), TASR has learnt from KDH leader Milan Majersky on the same day. Party chairman Majersky will attempt to defend his position as head of Presov region, Igor Janckulik will run in Zilina region, and Lucia Gurbalova will run in Kosice region. Rastislav Mochnacky will be the candidate for Presov mayor. This will be Majersky's third bid for the post of Presov region chairman, with the previous two having been successful. Janckulik unsuccessfully attempted to be elected chairman of Zilina region in 2022, and for Gurbalova, this will be her first bid for the position of Kosice governor. The combined election for municipal and regional authorities are scheduled to take place on 24 October. Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) hasn't yet officially announced the lection, but he confirmed to TASR that it will take place on this date. am
