Banska Bystrica/Bratislava, 5 March (TASR) - Officers of Financial Administration's Criminal Office carried out an operation codenamed Simulator in Banska Bystrica region on Wednesday (4 March), focusing on suspicions of tax-law violations related to imports of luxury vehicles to Slovakia, Financial Administration spokesperson Daniel Kovac informed TASR on Thursday.
"Financial Administration officers took action against six businesses suspected of unlawfully claiming excessive VAT deductions when trading in luxury cars," said Kovac.
Accounting documentation of the companies concerned was seized during the operation. The Criminal Office of Financial Administration also issued decisions imposing precautionary measures on assets.
"The reason is the concern that a tax liability that isn't yet due or hasn't yet been assessed might not be paid in the future or could become uncollectible," Kovac explained, adding that the seized accounting documentation will be forwarded to the relevant authorities for further proceedings.
