Komarno/Bratislava, 4 March (TASR) – The collapse of part of the roof at the Client Centre building in Komarno (Nitra region) last week has claimed a second victim, as a 64-year-old man who had been taken to hospital in a critical condition after the incident died at the Faculty Hospital in Nove Zamky on Tuesday (3 March) night, hospital spokesperson Lucia Hamran Kollarova confirmed for TASR on Wednesday.
The roof collapsed on 25 February. A 51-year-old man was killed at the scene. The 64-year-old man was airlifted to the Faculty Hospital in Nove Zamky with spinal injuries, while a 67-year-old man with minor head injuries was taken by ambulance to the Agel Hospital in Komarno. All three were clients of the centre.
A police investigator has launched criminal proceedings on suspicion of the offence of general endangerment.
Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) hasn't ruled out the possibility that February's earthquake in south-west Slovakia may have contributed to the collapse of part of the building's roof.
