SNS to Hold Congress on 14 March, New Leadership to Be Elected There

Bratislava, 3 March (TASR) - The junior governing Slovak National Party (SNS) will hold a working congress in the village of Obyce in the district of Zlate Moravce (Nitra region) on 14 March, SNS spokesperson Zuzana Skopcova has informed TASR, adding that the decision on the congress was approved at a meeting of the party presidium on Tuesday. The new party leadership for the next four years will be elected at the congress, said Skopcova. At the same time, the presidium accepted 45 new members into the party. Among them is former state secretary of the Education Ministry and an ex-MP for Smer-SD, Olga Nachtmannova. "As of today, we have 2,195 members," said the spokesperson. The combined elections to local and regional self-government bodies were discussed at the presidium meeting as well. For these elections SNS has set itself the goal of strengthening its influence in the regions and bringing stability, order and concrete solutions to the places in which people live. "Members of the party presidium stated that the party's structures are ready for the local elections and are prepared to form coalitions, primarily with the [other] current governing parties," added Skopcova. ko/df
