Bratislava, 3 March (TASR) - The average nominal monthly salary in Slovakia for the whole of 2025 reached €1,620, up by 6.3 percent, or €96 year-on-year (y-o-y), the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday. Although the pace of gross salary growth was the slowest in the past five years, it was still fast enough for salaries to increase in real terms as well. Due to higher inflation, real salaries grew by just 2.2 percent in 2025. In 2024 they increased by 3.7 percent, the biggest figure seen since 2019. All of the 19 monitored branches of the economy posted y-o-y increases in both nominal and real monthly salaries, with the slowest growth being recorded in administrative services. The fastest growth of over 4.5 percent was posted in the sectors of mining, water supplies, health care and hospitality services. The average gross salary of employees engaged in hospitality services amounted to only €969 per month last year and was the only one to fail to exceed the €1,000 threshold. Conversely, the highest nominal salary, exceeding €2,600, was earned by employees engaged in financial and insurance companies, energy (electricity, gas and steam) supplies, as well as IT firms. A total of nine sectors enjoyed above-average salaries. Industry maintained the fastest growth pace among the sectors with the biggest numbers of employees. Nominal salaries in the sector rose by 6.3 percent to €1,743, while real salaries increased by 2.2 percent. Trade, the second-biggest employer, saw an increase in average salaries of 6.2 percent to €1,518. However, the real growth of 2.1 percent was slightly below the national average. ko/df
