Parliamentary Speaker Rasi Rejects War As Means of Resolving Disputes

Bratislava, 28 February (TASR) - Parliamentary Speaker Richard Rasi stated in response to Saturday's joint US-Israeli strike on Iran that he rejects war as a means of resolving disputes anywhere in the world, adding that peace cannot be achieved through arms, but rather through patient diplomacy, respect for international law, and a willingness to engage in dialogue, TASR has learnt from Parliament Office's communications department head Veronika Piatkova.
However, Rasi stressed that the Iranian regime's nuclear arsenal build-up threatens security not only in the Middle East but throughout the entire world.
"Yesterday it seemed that diplomacy would prevail; unfortunately, we're once again witnessing a military confrontation that will inevitably result in civilian casualties. I believe that the military attacks will end as soon as possible and that further action will proceed along a diplomatic path, for example, within the United Nations," stated Rasi.
He added that this is no longer an isolated incident, as retaliatory attacks are taking place across the entire region. According to Rasi, there is a real risk that the spiral of strikes and counter-strikes will lead to a wider conflict with unpredictable consequences.
Explosions were heard in Iran on Saturday morning during a joint Israeli-American military intervention. Blasts were reported from several locations, including Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, Tabriz, and Kermanshah. According to US President Donald Trump, the "major combat operations" are aimed at eliminating the threat posed by the Iranian regime. Iran has responded with missile strikes on Israel.
