Bratislava, 27 February (TASR) - There is currently no agreement within the governing coalition on who should become the new governor of the Slovak central bank (NBS), Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenicky (Smer-SD) stated on Friday, adding that the coalition will address the issue once such an agreement has been reached.
The term of office of incumbent NBS governor Peter Kazimir officially ended in June of last year, but he'll remain in the post until his successor is appointed. The coalition Voice-SD party is again promoting Kazimir as its candidate, but he isn't supported by the strongest governing party, Smer-SD.
"In order for someone to become NBS governor or deputy governor, they must go through a process. They must have the approval of the government, Parliament and the president. There is no such agreement at the moment. When there is, the issue will be addressed," said Kamenicky.
