Hlohovec, 26 February (TASR) - Agel Hlohovec Hospital in Trnava region will discontinue its outpatient emergency service for adults as of 1 March, with the step being taken due to insufficient staffing for these services, Agel SK communications manager Jarmila Sevcikova told TASR on Thursday, adding that if necessary, patients will be able to use outpatient emergency services in nearby towns, including Trnava, Nitra and Piestany. "We've been actively addressing the situation for several months. We did our best to ensure that the outpatient emergency service for adults could continue unchanged. Despite our efforts and attempts at negotiation, we were unable to reach a mutual agreement due to insufficient staffing for services," said hospital director Branislav Vesely. The hospital, as the operator of the outpatient emergency service for adults, received mass resignations from doctors who provided emergency services. Due to the inability to guarantee enough staff to operate, the hospital was forced to ask the Health Ministry to revoke its licence to run an outpatient emergency service for adults. am/df
